While there is plenty of that for those who are interested, that’s not all there is to New York. In fact, being such a hub for diversity has led to an atmosphere of pervading tolerance, acceptance, and community. Even in more populous cities like Manhattan, people are encouraged to be who they are and live their lives for themselves. If you’re new to sobriety, New York has a lot to offer you without putting your newfound sobriety at risk.

New York Becoming Leader in Effective Use of Medication in Addiction Recovery

More often than not, the response people have to the idea of using methadone or Suboxone as a part of one’s recovery is negative or dismissive. The perception is that using these medications means that a person is trading physical dependence on alcohol or drugs for physical dependence on methadone or Suboxone. However, there are ways that these medications can be used to great effect, and New York State is pioneering this new wave of medication-assisted addiction treatment. According to news reports, the New York State Health Department wants to make it easier for people in need to get these medications, whether for addiction treatment as is the case with Suboxone and methadone, or in the event of an overdose, in which case Naloxone would be necessary.
