About Casa Serena
Casa Serena is a women’s drug and alcohol treatment center located at 1515 Bath St in Santa Barbara, California, specializing exclusively in female patients — including pregnant women, mothers, seniors, and women veterans. The facility takes a trauma-focused approach to addiction treatment and accepts women from a broad service area spanning Northern California, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Ventura, and the Santa Barbara region. Casa Serena operates around the clock, every day of the week, making it accessible for women seeking immediate placement.
The facility offers three distinct levels of care: medical detox, residential treatment, and an outpatient program. Medical detox is available on-site, providing structured withdrawal management for women dealing with alcohol addiction, opioid addiction, benzodiazepine addiction, fentanyl addiction, heroin addiction, cocaine addiction, prescription pill addiction, and other substance dependencies. Following detox, women can step directly into residential treatment without changing facilities, maintaining continuity of care through what can be the most vulnerable period of recovery.
Casa Serena’s clinical model addresses co-occurring disorders alongside addiction, treating conditions such as PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic disorder, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, and eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and ARFID. Therapeutic methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, behavioral activation, dual diagnosis treatment, job readiness programming, continuing education, and parenting programs — making the clinical scope unusually broad for a women-specific residential program.
Casa Serena serves women only, with dedicated programming for pregnant women, mothers, women veterans, seniors, and court-ordered individuals. The facility accepts private insurance from carriers including Aetna, Anthem, Magellan, Optum, and First Health, as well as self-pay. Notably, the center does not accept Medicare, Medi-Cal, or Cen-Cal plans. Aftercare is built into the model through a lifetime aftercare program, transitional living, and education and career support — extending the center’s reach well beyond the residential stay.
