About Harbor
Harbor is a Bowling Green-based nonprofit behavioral health agency that has served Ohio communities for more than 100 years. Operating from 1010 North Prospect Street and additional locations across northwest Ohio, Harbor provides over 30,000 youth, adults, seniors, and families each year with a full range of mental health, substance use disorder, telehealth, vocational, and primary care services. The organization is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and certified by the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health.
Addiction services at Harbor span outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient programming, and a dedicated Women’s Residential Rehab that welcomes pregnant women, postpartum women, and women with young children ages 0-5 who can stay during treatment, an unusual feature designed to remove a common barrier to mom-centered care. The organization’s Mental Health Urgent Care offers same-day walk-in behavioral health support for children and adults of all ages regardless of insurance coverage, a powerful safety-net resource for individuals in crisis.
Clinical leadership includes Chief Medical Officer Irfan Ahmed, MD, who is Board Certified and joined Harbor in 2016, and Chief Care Coordination Officer Philip D. Atkins, PhD, LICDC-CS, OCPC. The clinical model emphasizes cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and group counseling, family work, and integrated care for co-occurring depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Harbor accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, TRICARE, state coverage, and self-pay. With telehealth options, OhioRISE coordination for youth, and peer support providers integrated across the system, the agency offers a comprehensive entry point for families navigating substance use and mental health needs in Wood County and beyond.
