About Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Service
Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services sits on 3637 Old Vineyard Road in Winston-Salem, where a free-standing psychiatric hospital provides a complete behavioral-health continuum for adolescents, adults, and seniors. The campus offers inpatient care for patients in acute crisis, a Partial Hospitalization Day Program for step-down stabilization, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and traditional outpatient services that can stand alone or follow higher levels of care. Assessment is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by phone or walk-in.
Clinical programming targets the mental-health conditions most commonly seen in inpatient psychiatric settings: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Dedicated specialty tracks include the Trauma Recovery Program, Dual Diagnosis Program, and Mood Disorders Program, which integrate evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with medication management, group work, and family education. Co-occurring substance use is addressed alongside primary psychiatric concerns rather than referred out.
The hospital serves SAMHSA-recognized populations including adolescents, young adults, men, women, seniors, veterans, court-ordered patients, and patients with HIV/AIDS support needs. Joint Commission accreditation is the hospital’s primary external quality marker. TRICARE coverage, Medicare, state insurance, most private commercial plans, and self-pay are all accepted, making care accessible to active-duty service members, retirees, and civilian patients across the Triad.
Programming is intentionally separated by age cohort so adolescents are not in groups with seniors, and each track addresses the developmental concerns of its patients. Old Vineyard offers a photo gallery and virtual orientation on its website, and patients or families can schedule a confidential level-of-care assessment through TimeTap or by calling 855-234-5920.
