About Oriana House
Oriana House, headquartered in Akron, has spent more than four decades building one of Ohio’s most distinctive behavioral health and community corrections agencies. Founded in 1981 to help the criminal justice system manage driving-while-intoxicated offenders, Oriana House has grown into a multi-service nonprofit whose programs reach much of Ohio. The 15 Frederick Avenue location supports the agency’s Akron-area treatment and corrections operations, while the administrative office on West Market Street coordinates statewide activity.
Clinical addiction and mental health treatment runs through Rigel Recovery Services, Oriana House’s behavioral health division. Rigel provides a full continuum from detoxification through aftercare, treating substance use disorders alongside common co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, trauma, and other behavioral health illnesses. Detox stabilizes patients experiencing withdrawal, residential treatment offers structured live-in care, and outpatient programs support clients who can maintain home and work commitments during recovery.
What distinguishes Oriana House is the integration of treatment with community corrections and reentry services. Court-ordered clients move through programming that addresses substance use, accountability, and the practical barriers—housing, employment, identification—that drive recidivism. The North Star Neighborhood Reentry Resource Center, Family Matters Education Program for affected loved ones, and pretrial services round out a model that addresses both the disease of addiction and the legal and social context in which it often occurs.
Oriana House accepts Medicaid and self-pay, and its statewide reach means many clients arrive through court referrals, public defenders, probation, or treatment-court programs such as the Akron Recovery Court. The agency’s non-discrimination policy explicitly covers HIV status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and military/veteran status, and the campus is configured to support Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients—an unusual accommodation among Ohio addiction providers.
