About Pine Rest Christian Mental Hlth Servs
Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is one of West Michigan’s largest behavioral health systems, anchored at a 300 68th Street SE campus in Grand Rapids and operating clinics across the region. Founded as a faith-based nonprofit, Pine Rest serves adults, children, and teens through a continuum that spans urgent care, inpatient psychiatry, residential addiction recovery, day programs, intensive outpatient, and traditional outpatient therapy and psychiatry. The organization also operates substantial research, professional education, and pediatric specialty services.
Clinically, the addiction recovery service line offers medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient programming for clients managing substance use disorders, frequently in tandem with co-occurring psychiatric conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and eating disorders. Pine Rest’s broader service catalog includes electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), teletherapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), speech therapy, and occupational therapy, giving clients access to integrated psychiatric, addiction, and developmental support inside a single system.
Leadership depth is unusual for a community-based provider. Talal Khan, MD serves as Vice President and Medical Director of Outpatient and Recovery Services; Bill Sanders, DO is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer; Samuel Lin, MD is President of the Medical Staff; Heide Rollings, MD is Medical Director of the Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health; and the organization’s research team includes Sarah Domoff, PhD and Stacey Armstrong, PhD. That credentialed clinical-academic structure supports a teaching-hospital approach, with psychiatry residencies, postdoctoral fellowships, and master’s-level internships housed on campus.
Pine Rest is accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF and is recognized by LegitScript. Payment routes include Medicare, TRICARE, private insurance, state insurance, self-pay, and structured payment plans, with dedicated financial counseling and assistance available for clients navigating out-of-pocket costs. American Sign Language services, teletherapy, and telepsychiatry expand access across rural Michigan and for clients with hearing differences.
