About Coastal Recovery Center
Coastal Recovery Center, located at 1113 44th Avenue North, Suite 100 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was founded to fill a regional gap in combined medical and counseling treatment for addictions and co-occurring disorders. The center brings both modalities under one outpatient roof, allowing clients to receive medical oversight from an addiction medicine physician and behavioral therapy from licensed professional counselors without traveling between providers.
The clinical continuum centers on outpatient care. A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides intensive day treatment for clients who do not need 24-hour supervision but require structured clinical support. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) allows clients to continue working or attending to family responsibilities while engaging in aggressive treatment several times a week. Outpatient counseling — both individual and group — supports ongoing recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy anchors the clinical model, with family therapy available because addiction rarely affects only the individual.
Leadership reflects deep local roots. CEO and Clinical Director Spencer Josey founded the program with Managing Director M. Dean Lang and Tenna Phipps Lang. Medical Director Dr. Brian K. Adler oversees addiction medicine, and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate Jon Darling delivers clinical care alongside the broader staff. Intake Coordinator Lauren King helps prospective clients navigate admission. The team includes licensed professional counselors and licensed addictions counselors.
Coastal Recovery Center holds Joint Commission accreditation and is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, with private-pay options also available. The center accepts adults 18 and older, with specific populations served including veterans, pregnant women, young adults, seniors, men, women, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and clients with court-ordered treatment requirements. Aftercare services connect clients with outside individual and group counseling, sober living support, and ongoing monitoring. Admissions can be reached at (843) 449-6261.
