About Opus Health LLC
Opus Health is a residential drug and alcohol treatment center serving Orange County from its facility on Irvine Avenue between Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. The program is built around a small-census, high-touch residential model with 24/7 medical assistance, separate men’s and women’s residential tracks, and an explicit LGBTQ+ safe space program for clients who need affirming care.
The continuum begins with medical detox, which Opus offers for the full range of common substances including alcohol, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, opiates, prescription drugs, Xanax, benzodiazepines, and cocaine. Detox is staffed and supervised by Medical Director Dr. Alejandro Alva, MD, Director of Healthcare Summer Rodriguez, MA, and LVN Maribel Gomez-Alvarado, with stabilization protocols tailored to each substance. After detox, clients move into residential treatment, where Program Director Cheryl Williams (CADC-I), Clinical Therapist David Oliver (AMFT, CADC I), and Director of Client Services Emmanuel Reyes (CADC-II) anchor a clinical team focused on dual diagnosis, trauma, and developmental trauma work.
Clinically, Opus combines evidence-based modalities like CBT and medication-assisted treatment (including Vivitrol and Sublocade) with experiential offerings such as adventure therapy and art therapy. Family therapy and a dedicated family program bring loved ones into the process, and a 12-step framework is integrated for clients who benefit from AA, NA, or Al-Anon engagement. The executive chef program is treated as part of recovery, recognizing that nutrition is a core stabilization tool during early sobriety.
Opus is accredited by both The Joint Commission and CARF, and the admissions team handles insurance verification across both public and private coverage options. The program accepts private insurance and self-pay, with admissions counselors available 24/7 to walk prospective clients through what’s covered, how the admission process works, and what to bring.
