About Onward Behavioral Health
Onward Behavioral Health occupies a campus at 600 South White Horse Pike in Hammonton, an Atlantic County community roughly 30 miles southwest of Atlantic City and 35 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The facility is part of Pyramid Healthcare, a multi-state behavioral health network operating across Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Onward is CARF accredited, and its program operates as a SAMHSA-certified Opioid Treatment Program with methadone dispensing under federal regulatory oversight.
The clinical lineup is structured around a true continuum. Medical detox manages acute withdrawal under nursing oversight, residential treatment provides structured 24-hour care, and outpatient services support patients stepping down from higher levels of care. Cognitive behavioral therapy anchors the psychotherapy curriculum, medication-assisted treatment supports opioid use disorder recovery, and medication management addresses co-occurring psychiatric conditions. ASAM 3.7 medically monitored intensive inpatient care is available through the broader Pyramid network for patients with higher acuity.
The program serves an unusually broad adult population. Veterans receive specialized care through Pyramid’s Project Resilience veteran addiction treatment program, and pregnant women, young adults, seniors, patients living with HIV, and Deaf or hard-of-hearing patients are explicitly accommodated. Polish-language services are available at the Hammonton campus – a meaningful accommodation given South Jersey’s Polish-heritage communities. American Sign Language services support Deaf patients, and trauma-informed care anchors clinical practice across modalities.
Financially, Onward accepts New Jersey Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, and self-pay arrangements. Court-ordered admissions are routine and coordinated with Atlantic County’s criminal-justice partners. Through the Pyramid alumni network, halfway houses, and recovery support services, patients leaving Onward have access to long-term recovery resources beyond the initial treatment episode. The local phone is (609) 270-4260, and the Pyramid central admissions line is (888) 694-9996.
