About AdCare Rhode Island Inc
AdCare Rhode Island is the residential addiction treatment center at the heart of AdCare’s New England system, located at 1950 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown. The 59-bed facility sits on 30 wooded acres minutes from Providence airport and downtown, giving clients a quiet, residential setting that is still easily accessible for families and out-of-state travelers.
The program covers a full continuum of inpatient care. Medical detox, inpatient residential treatment, and outpatient services run on-site, and medication-assisted treatment is integrated for opioid use disorder. The clinical schedule combines cognitive behavioral therapy, individual counseling, group sessions, and family integration, with aftercare planning embedded into discharge from day one rather than treated as an afterthought. A dedicated veterans rehab program serves the substantial veteran population in the region, and TRICARE coverage makes the program financially accessible for service members and their families.
The campus is built around the recognition that environment matters in recovery. Semi-private rooms with private baths, a fitness center, basketball courts, and family-style dining create a treatment experience that feels closer to a structured retreat than an institutional facility. The amenities are paired with a rigorous clinical program staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and counselors, including Medical Directors Dr. Mohammad Alhabbal, MD, and Dr. Michael Christian Coburn, M.D., Director of Clinical Services John Copeland, and senior leaders Gloria Mazza, MSN, APRN, and Kara Miller, B.A., A.D.N.
AdCare Rhode Island is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by LegitScript, and operates as a SAMHSA-recognized Opioid Treatment Program. It accepts Medicaid, state insurance, TRICARE, private insurance, and self-pay arrangements. As part of the broader AdCare New England network, which includes a Worcester, MA detox hospital and outpatient locations, the Rhode Island campus offers New England residents a long-running, clinically respected residential addiction program.
