About Addiction Care Interventions Outpatient
Addiction Care Interventions (ACI) operates outpatient services at 255 West 36th Street, 8th Floor, in Midtown Manhattan. ACI describes itself as a national leader in addiction recovery since 1969, with a half-century of experience serving New York City and surrounding communities. The Midtown location is the agency’s Garment District base, with the Medically Supervised Withdrawal program at a separate West 57th Street site.
Clinical programming spans medical detox, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), traditional outpatient services, and medication-assisted treatment. The therapeutic toolkit includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, anger management, Seeking Safety, family therapy, spirituality and meditation practices, and trauma-specific specialty groups. ACI also offers gender-specific and LGBTQ groups, Hepatitis C testing and linkage to care, opioid overdose prevention education, and comprehensive discharge planning.
SAMHSA records reflect specialty accommodations across an unusually broad set of populations: adolescents, veterans, pregnant women, young adults, older adults, court-ordered patients, and people living with HIV/AIDS, with explicit attention to trauma and co-occurring conditions. The clinic addresses addiction to alcohol, heroin, cocaine, tranquilizers, pain killers, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and amphetamines.
ACI is Joint Commission-accredited, an indicator of meeting national standards for behavioral health services. Leadership includes Joel Friedman as Managing Director, Kristi Makris as Executive Director, Ramsey Joudeh, MD as Medical Director, Anna Baron as Sr. Director of Human Resources, and Brad Thomas as Sr. Director of Compliance. Accepted payment includes Medicaid, private insurance, state-financed insurance, self-pay, and sliding-scale fees. The main number is (212) 378-4545 ext. 2045, with a treatment-help line at (800) 724-4444.
