About Amazing Grace Center
Amazing Grace Center occupies a unique niche in southern Ohio’s recovery landscape, operating as both a federally recognized Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and a full mental health clinic at 802 Clare Avenue in Portsmouth. The Scioto County facility blends methadone, buprenorphine, Sublocade, and Brixadi protocols with counseling, ketamine treatment for treatment-resistant depression, and a broader mental health practice – an unusual combination for a community-scale OTP.
Medical Director Dr. Rose Uradu, a board-certified Addiction Medicine Specialist with more than 30 years of clinical experience, frames the program around making treatment safe, accessible, and judgment-free. Reverend Livinus, PhD serves as Clinical Director, and the team includes addiction counselors Jim and Ken, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Sean (PMHNP), Patient Care Coordinator Billy, and a roster of additional clinicians supporting the OTP and mental health caseload. Patients consistently describe staff as treating them like family.
Clinically, Amazing Grace offers SAMHSA-confirmed medical detox, outpatient services, and intensive outpatient (IOP), with the OTP as the backbone for opioid use disorder. CBT and DBT anchor the counseling work, with Narcan distribution for overdose prevention, group therapy, and telehealth as supplemental components. The facility serves a wide population including veterans, pregnant women, seniors, court-ordered admits, Deaf or Hard of Hearing clients (with ASL support), and patients with HIV/AIDS – a deliberate move to keep care accessible across a rural Appalachian region.
Financial flexibility is a defining feature. Amazing Grace accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, TRICARE, state insurance, sliding-scale fees, and self-pay, and the team works with patients to find a payment structure that fits. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Friday, and the intake line at 740-876-8449 routes new patients into the same-week admission process. The facility is one of the more comprehensive outpatient recovery programs in southern Ohio’s opioid-impacted communities.
