About Argus Community Inc MMW
Argus Community Inc operates the MMW program at 114-40 Van Wyck Expressway in South Ozone Park, Queens — a residential substance use and mental health treatment facility within Argus’s 50-plus-year continuum of care. SAMHSA records the program as providing medical detox and residential treatment, with services for veterans, men, women, people living with HIV/AIDS, and court-ordered clients. The facility treats substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, mental health conditions, and trauma/PTSD. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is part of the clinical methodology, alongside substance use counseling and medication-assisted treatment.
Argus Community, Inc. was founded in 1968 and has grown into one of the longest-running healthcare programs in the NYC area, with a footprint that covers all five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester County. The MMW site sits inside that broader network alongside the Elizabeth L. Sturz (ELS) Treatment Center, Faith Mission Alcohol Crisis Center, Harbor House I and II Intensive Residential Programs, the Mary S. Taylor Program, Prometheus I and II, and Striver House Intensive Residential Program. ARU Outpatient programming and DWI/DUI Screening and Assessment Services round out the addiction service line.
Leadership for the broader organization is led by Dr. Miriam Y. Vega, President and CEO. Argus describes its model as patient-centric and built around treating every individual with dignity — an orientation that fits its work with at-risk populations including people with histories of substance use, incarceration, chronic illness, and HIV. Beyond clinical treatment, Argus operates HIV Care Management, HIV/Hepatitis C testing, ACCESS money management, and education/vocational programming including Adult Basic Education, high-school educational support, intensive supported employment, and Pathways to Graduation.
The agency is a responsible steward of federal, state, and city funds and accepts Medicaid and state insurance per SAMHSA. The South Ozone Park residential site is part of a 24/7-supported, multi-program continuum; intake and program assignment are coordinated centrally through Argus Community at 718-322-3455 or via the agency’s main line at 718-401-5700.
