Pueblos del Sol is one of the longest-running residential substance use disorder programs operated by Bi-Bett Corporation, a Northern California nonprofit founded in 1969. Located at 2090 Commerce Avenue in Concord, the program serves adults from across the Bay Area, with a particular reach into the Spanish-speaking communities of Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano counties. The facility’s name, which translates loosely to ‘Villages of the Sun,’ reflects the program’s bilingual identity and its emphasis on community as a therapeutic tool.
Residents at Pueblos del Sol enter a structured daily routine designed to interrupt the patterns of active addiction and replace them with stable, recovery-oriented habits. Treatment includes individual counseling, group therapy, and family education sessions, supported by communal living tasks that help residents rebuild responsibility and accountability. The facility maintains a working garden, El Jardin, where residents take part in tending plants and shared meals — a deliberate, grounding activity that supports physical health and provides a metaphor for the slow, patient work of recovery.
