About Calm Center
The CALM Center is a youth crisis stabilization and short-term residential program located at 6126 East 32nd Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Operated by Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma (CRS), a nonprofit funded in part by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the program is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is specifically designed for youth ages 10 to 17 who are in an emotional, behavioral, or substance use crisis.
At CALM, young people receive immediate assessment, stabilization, and substance use evaluation in a safe, family-style setting. The clinical model emphasizes short stays focused on de-escalation, medication management when needed, and connection to longer-term outpatient care or higher levels of treatment. CARF accreditation reflects the program’s commitment to quality and to the standards expected of behavioral health crisis services. CALM is co-located with YES Tulsa, a 24/7 crisis service for youth ages 5 to 17, providing a coordinated response for families navigating mental health emergencies.
Clinical leadership is built around a multidisciplinary team. Sarah Phillips, MS, LMFT, serves as Clinical Director, with Kelsey Krohner, NCC, CCTP, LCP-S, leading children’s services and Matthew Crum, MS, LPC, directing crisis services across CRS. Pharmacy Director Trae Elias, Pharm D, oversees medication management, and Bristol Tottress, MS, LPC, NCC, leads adult services within the broader CRS network. Therapy modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and family work, group sessions teaching coping skills, and expressive options including art, music, and pet therapy.
A defining feature of CALM is its accessibility. CRS provides care at little or no cost to families through a combination of Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and charitable funding from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. For families in Tulsa County and across northeastern Oklahoma, the CALM Center is one of the few places where a child in crisis can be assessed and stabilized at any hour without immediate concern over cost.
