About
About Guidance Care Center Inc
Guidance/Care Center, Inc. is the principal behavioral health and substance use treatment agency serving the Florida Keys, with its main campus located at 3000 41st Street Ocean in Marathon, Florida. As an affiliate within the broader WestCare network, GCC operates as a community safety-net provider, accepting all clients regardless of ability to pay and offering sliding-scale fees based on family size and income. The agency is CARF accredited and integrates substance use treatment with mental health care, crisis response, and transportation services across Monroe County.
Clinical services span a full continuum of care. Medical detoxification stabilizes clients withdrawing from alcohol or drugs, followed by residential treatment for those needing structured 24-hour rehabilitation. Outpatient and intensive outpatient services support clients stepping down from higher levels of care or entering treatment at a lower acuity. The Heron offers specialized longer-term residential support. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trauma-informed counseling anchor the clinical model, with individual, group, and family modalities available.
GCC’s reach extends well beyond traditional clinical care. The Mobile Crisis Response Team provides 24-hour triage for Monroe County residents experiencing behavioral health crises, working to divert people from hospital emergency departments and jail. The Community Action Team delivers multidisciplinary wraparound care for youth with serious behavioral health needs. The agency is also the designated Community Transportation Coordinator for Monroe County, ensuring that clients, seniors, and people with disabilities can access medical and supportive appointments throughout the Keys.
Payment is structured around accessibility. GCC accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, TRICARE, state insurance, self-pay, and sliding-scale fees. Services are also available to women and pregnant women on a preference basis. Brochures and intake materials are available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. The agency does not require a referral for an appointment, and adults in crisis can reach the MRT hotline at (305) 434-7660, Option 8, around the clock.
