About Keystone Substance Abuse Services
Keystone Substance Abuse Services operates York County’s largest addiction treatment facility, providing medical detox and withdrawal management services at 199 South Herlong Avenue in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This CARF-accredited center has delivered substance abuse treatment since 1969, with medical oversight from Dr. Maureen Burdett (MD, FACS, FASAM) as Medical Director and Dr. James Jewell as Staff Physician.
The facility offers medical detox as part of its comprehensive levels of care, including residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient services. Medical staff provide withdrawal management for alcohol use disorder, drug addiction, and co-occurring disorders using medication-assisted treatment protocols. The center treats adolescents through adults, including pregnant women and individuals with dual diagnosis conditions.
Keystone’s treatment approach combines medical supervision with cognitive behavioral therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy sessions. The center operates as a not-for-profit organization under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Kerri McGuire (PhD, LPC, NCC), with consulting psychiatrist Dr. Samantha Suffren providing additional medical oversight for complex cases.
Patients can access detox programs through multiple payment options including Medicaid, private insurance, sliding scale fees, and financial assistance programs. The facility serves Rock Hill, York County, and surrounding South Carolina communities, operating Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 9 PM and Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM for comprehensive addiction treatment services.
