About Mid Plains Center for
Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) behavioral health organization headquartered at 914 Baumann Drive in Grand Island, Nebraska. For more than five decades, the center has served Central Nebraska as one of the region’s anchor providers of mental health and substance use treatment, with satellite locations in Kearney and Lincoln supporting access across the state.
The Grand Island campus offers a continuum of behavioral health services that includes outpatient therapy, medication management, and a recently launched medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program for opioid use disorder. Clinicians use cognitive behavioral therapy as the foundation of substance use care, and the center also offers Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) for adolescents and families navigating complex behavioral health needs. A 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Unit provides short-term support during acute mental health or substance use emergencies, helping patients avoid emergency-room or inpatient psychiatric admissions when safe to do so.
Financial access is a core part of the mission. Mid-Plains Center is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and accepts Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, most private insurance plans, and state insurance, along with self-pay, sliding-scale, and financial assistance arrangements for patients who would otherwise face barriers to care. The center recently announced a partnership with Genoa Healthcare to integrate on-site pharmacy services for clients receiving behavioral health treatment.
Leadership is anchored by President and CEO Chase Francl, with an executive team that includes Aaron Ross (COO), Sara Nelson (CFO), Cody Musilek (CIO), and Allison Nelms (Chief Compliance Officer). The nonprofit board provides additional governance and community oversight. Together, the staff and board work to ensure that Central Nebraska residents — especially those in rural counties — have access to high-quality, affordable behavioral health care close to home.
