About
About Milestone Recovery
Milestone Recovery is a Cumberland County nonprofit organization providing integrated care for adults experiencing substance use disorders, mental illness, and homelessness. The detox program is located at 10 Andover Road in Portland, Maine, while the emergency shelter, HOME Team outreach, and administrative offices operate from 65 India Street in Portland. The organization is recognized by SAMHSA as a substance use treatment provider serving men, women, and pregnant women across the greater Portland region.
Clinical services begin with a medically monitored withdrawal program staffed around the clock. Twenty beds are dedicated to monitored withdrawal, including capacity to support uninsured Mainers — a population that historically has had limited access to detox in the state. The withdrawal program is overseen by Counseling Director Alyssa Pelchat, LCSW, CCS, and reflects Milestone’s long-standing commitment to keeping detoxification accessible regardless of ability to pay.
Following stabilization, clients can transition into residential treatment for continued support, structure, and recovery-focused programming. Outpatient services and the HOME Team’s mobile homeless outreach extend Milestone’s reach into the community, addressing the deeply intertwined challenges of substance use and unsheltered homelessness across Portland and South Portland.
Leadership includes Executive Director Jayme Villanueva, LADC, CCS, who previously served as Milestone’s Clinical Director overseeing all therapeutic programming. Medical Director Rachel Solotaroff joined Milestone in 2024 and also serves as Executive Clinical Director of Substance Use Disorders at Penobscot Community Healthcare. Milestone accepts Medicaid (MaineCare), self-pay/cash, and offers financial assistance. To start treatment, individuals can call (207) 775-4790 or email info@milestone-recovery.org.
