About
About Mount Regis Center
Mount Regis Center is an intimate, 68-bed residential drug and alcohol treatment facility located on a restored historic estate in Salem, Virginia. The serene, secluded setting allows clients to step away from daily triggers and focus fully on recovery, while a continuum of programs supports patients from their first day of detox through long-term aftercare.
Clinical services begin with medically monitored detox, where patients safely clear drugs and alcohol from their systems under physician oversight. After detox, clients transition into the 68-bed residential program, which combines empirically validated treatment with the 12-step model, one of the most established frameworks for sustained sobriety. Step-down options include a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for those who need structured, intensive treatment without 24-hour monitoring, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for clients re-engaging with work and family. Cognitive behavioral therapy supports each level of care, and the program is equipped to address trauma, PTSD, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Mount Regis serves men and women, including Veterans through a dedicated Veterans Affairs track, pregnant women, seniors, court-ordered clients, and patients living with HIV/AIDS. The facility participates with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicaid, United Healthcare, and TRICARE, along with private insurance, self-pay, and state-funded plans. Medicare is not currently accepted.
Accredited by CARF, Mount Regis emphasizes patient-centered care, encouraging close collaboration between clients and a multidisciplinary clinical team. A lifetime aftercare program continues to support alumni after discharge, reinforcing the long arc of recovery that begins on the historic estate’s grounds.
