About
About Nexus Recovery Center Inc
Nexus Family Recovery Center is a nonprofit substance use treatment provider in East Dallas, Texas, operating from an 11-acre campus at 8733 La Prada Drive in Dallas County. The organization serves exclusively women on their journey to recovery, and it has built its identity around a deliberate, sustained focus on serving women whose recovery needs are often poorly accommodated in mixed-gender programs. Nexus has been accredited by the Joint Commission since 2006 and is one of the longest-running women-focused treatment programs in North Texas.
The program is the only treatment center in North Texas that accepts women in the late stages of pregnancy and that allows children to accompany their mothers into treatment. This is a significant distinction: many residential programs decline pregnant women in their third trimester, and even fewer can accommodate children on site. Nexus’s model treats mother-child continuity as a clinical asset rather than a logistical obstacle, with therapeutic treatment and care available for the children who accompany their mothers as part of the program.
Nexus traces its origins to 1971, when the program was established as High Hopes Rehabilitation Center on Tremont Street in Dallas, later moving to Fairmount Street near downtown. In 1974, programming expanded to include therapy and life skills training, and the agency grew to house seventeen women. In 1990, Nexus relocated to its current 11-acre East Dallas campus on La Prada Drive, which enabled it to become a leader in treatment for women by allowing children to accompany their mothers. Programs for adolescents and additional specialty services followed in subsequent years, broadening the agency’s reach.
Clinically, Nexus offers a full continuum that includes medical detox, residential treatment, outpatient programming, and intensive outpatient services, with cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidence-based modalities as a foundation. Payment options include Medicaid, private insurance, state insurance, self-pay, sliding scale, and financial assistance, and the organization explicitly commits to serving women regardless of their ability to pay, supported by a board, volunteers, partners, and a donor base that subsidize care for clients without coverage.
