About Project Turnabout
Project Turnabout has built its reputation in Minnesota on a stepped-care model that meets clients at different stages of severity and supports them as their needs change. The Granite Falls campus serves as a hub for the organization’s continuum, which spans medical detox, residential recovery, transitional living, outpatient care, and intensive outpatient. The clinic frames its philosophy around providing ‘the right level of support at each stage of recovery, offering more structure when it’s needed most and gradually less as stability and independence grow.’
Medical detox at Project Turnabout is delivered as supervised withdrawal management with an explicit focus on stabilization, comfort, and planning the next step in recovery. From there, clients can move into residential recovery, which provides a structured environment with daily therapy and skill-building. Transitional living is offered for both men and women — including a women’s-specific transitional living option — to help individuals continue treatment while rebuilding independence. Outpatient and intensive outpatient programs round out the continuum for people stepping down from higher levels of care or beginning treatment without needing 24-hour support.
A distinguishing feature of Project Turnabout is the Vanguard Gambling Treatment program, which provides specialized care for people impacted by problem gambling. Vanguard focuses on recovery, financial stability, and rebuilding healthy relationships with money, work, and life, addressing a behavioral-health need that many general addiction-treatment providers don’t serve directly. The organization also operates a DWI Clinic and Diversion Program, reflecting its role within Minnesota’s broader substance-use intervention ecosystem.
The clinical team identified publicly includes Marti Paulson and Shelly Petrik on the clinical team, along with Megan Bennett, BS, MA, LADC. For families in southwest Minnesota — and the broader Minnesota recovery community — Project Turnabout offers a one-organization continuum that is increasingly rare among nonprofit treatment providers. Spanish-language services are also indicated through the organization’s bilingual site presence.
