About Sundown M Ranch
Sundown M Ranch is a Yakima, Washington substance use treatment center founded on March 4, 1968 as the first non-profit Substance Use Disorder residential treatment program in Washington State. Situated on a 30-acre campus at the entrance of the Yakima River Canyon, the facility has helped more than 200,000 patients and family members work through addiction recovery over its more than five decades of operation. The program is CARF-accredited and admits patients seven days a week through a scheduled bed-date process.
The clinical model is built on an integrated system of care that includes withdrawal management, residential treatment, and outpatient services for adult and adolescent patients. Adults move through a structured residential program supported by individual, group, and family therapy, while a dedicated Youth Program serves adolescents in a separate track. The Family Program engages parents, spouses, and other loved ones in the recovery process and is one of the most established offerings of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
Therapeutic methods include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, 12-step facilitation, and individual, group, and family counseling. Pregnant women and seniors are explicitly served populations, alongside men, women, and clients managing co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. The patient-centered philosophy expressed in the program’s slogan — “The Patient is the Reason We are Here” — guides a treatment culture that emphasizes mind, body, and spirit.
Financially, Sundown M Ranch is recognized as one of the more affordable SUD residential providers in the country. The program accepts Medicaid, private insurance, state insurance, and self-pay arrangements, and offers financing options through its admissions team. Located along State Route 821 just outside Yakima, the rural canyon setting provides a quiet, focused environment for recovery, with daily admissions available by calling the dedicated admissions line.
