About Turning Point Recovery Center Inc
Turning Point Recovery Center sits in northeast Albuquerque at 9201 Montgomery Boulevard, just off the I-25 corridor and within easy reach of the Sandia foothills. Founded and led by President/CEO Paul Tucker, the program has built a continuum of care designed around the ‘Rebuild, Recover, Regroup’ philosophy that runs through every level of service.
Clinical care begins with safe, 24/7 medically managed detox using advanced withdrawal medications, then transitions clients into residential treatment housed in separate men’s and women’s locations in quiet, comfortable neighborhoods. From there, clients can step down into the Intensive Outpatient Program, where flexible schedules accommodate work and family, or move into sober living homes staffed with a live-in house manager and full-time peer mentor. Medication-Assisted Treatment is available across detox, MAT and mental health tracks for clients with opioid and alcohol use disorders.
The Wellness Center supplements clinical treatment with customized health plans, weekly group activities and educational workshops led by licensed health professionals. The medical team is anchored by Medical Director Dr. J. Randle Adair (DO, PhD) and addiction psychiatrist Dr. Shawn Hazelwood, with Communications Director Chris O’Donnell coordinating outreach and family programming.
Most insurance plans are accepted, including Medicaid, TRICARE, private insurance and state coverage, with self-pay options also available. The Family Support and Relapse Response Program offers weekly Family & Friends visits, communication-skills coaching, boundary-setting guidance and relapse-response strategies, helping loved ones become a sustained part of long-term recovery.
