About Valley Recovery Resources
Valley Recovery Resources is a Modesto-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates Redwood Family Center, a residential addiction treatment ministry serving women and women with children.
Founded with roots in Inter-Faith Ministries and serving the Modesto community for more than 20 years, Redwood Family Center grew from a 60-bed sober living facility into a multi-site continuum that today includes detox, residential treatment, transitional housing, and graduate homes in West and East Modesto. The organization explicitly serves women regardless of their financial situation, emphasizing family reunification as a core outcome.
Clinical care follows evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, integrated with a faith-based recovery framework grounded in hope, belonging, and community. The program is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (SUD License 500001AN). Medicaid and Medicare are accepted as primary payment pathways, with charitable funding supporting clients who cannot otherwise afford care.
Women entering Redwood Family Center can expect a wraparound experience that extends well beyond clinical treatment. Academic support, job experience opportunities, and long-term sober living help residents rebuild stability after substance use disorder. Graduate housing in two Modesto neighborhoods gives women a continued recovery community while they transition back to independent life with their children. The organization is governed by a board that includes Ron Nydam and other community members committed to long-term recovery.
