Illinois was also in the top 10 for drug-related deaths that include both heroin and fentanyl. In Peoria in 2017, there was an incident in which methoxyacetyl fentanyl was sold as crack cocaine. This resulted in multiple fatalities due to fentanyl overdose. Finally, in 2018 there were over 45 opioid prescriptions written for every 100 people.
