Montana Chemical Dependency Center, known as MCDC, is the state of Montana’s residential substance use treatment facility, located at 525 East Mercury Street in Butte. Operated by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, MCDC provides medically supervised detoxification and residential rehabilitation for adults whose substance use disorders require an inpatient level of care. As a public, state-run program, the center is one of the few facilities in Montana able to accept Medicaid, Medicare, sliding-scale, and state-funded admissions alongside private insurance and TRICARE.
Clinical services include medically managed withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants, followed by a structured residential program built around cognitive behavioral therapy, group counseling, and recovery education.
