About Recovery Unlimited Treatment Ctr
Recovery Unlimited Treatment Center in Flint, Michigan, has provided evidence-based addiction treatment since 2000, focused specifically on medication-assisted treatment for opioid and opiate use disorders. The clinic is CARF-accredited and federally certified as an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), and it has expanded its access model in recent years to include telehealth medication-assisted treatment for clients located anywhere in Michigan.
Clinical care is organized around two MAT tracks. Short-term Detoxification uses prescribed decreasing doses of Suboxone (buprenorphine) alongside counseling and treatment planning, designed for clients pursuing a tapered exit from opioid dependence. Long-term Detoxification uses methadone, with maintenance up to 180 days, offering greater stability for clients whose recovery benefits from sustained pharmacological support. Both tracks integrate counseling services and individualized treatment planning, with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy used as the primary evidence-based modality. SAMHSA records confirm CARF accreditation and Opioid Treatment Program certification for the facility.
The Medical Director and CEO, Dr. Richard T. Robinson, MD, brings more than 25 years of experience treating addiction with methadone and Suboxone, and is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His dual leadership role — clinical and operational — keeps medical decision-making at the center of how the program runs. Outside Recovery Unlimited, Dr. Robinson serves as a full-time attending physician in an emergency department, an unusual combination that gives him direct exposure to the acute consequences of untreated opioid addiction.
Payer-wise, the clinic accepts Medicare for all services and Medicaid specifically for Suboxone services, alongside Blue Cross Blue Shield, cash/self-pay, and other private insurance. The telehealth MAT program eliminates the daily travel burden that has historically been one of the strongest barriers to methadone-based recovery, allowing Michigan residents to access prescriptions and counseling sessions from home. For clients with reliable internet access and a state-of-Michigan address, this can be the difference between starting treatment and not starting at all.
