Drug & Alcohol Detoxification Facilities in Utah

Utah may seem like a quiet state, but it is caught squarely in the middle of the war on drugs in general, and the opioid crisis in particular. In 2016, Utah came in 2nd place for most prescription opioid overdose deaths per capita, at 11.5 deaths per 100,000 residents. Additionally, there is significant drug trafficking occurring in the state by several different Mexican cartels. As far as local drug distribution is concerned, this is performed by local gangs such as Florencia 13, Norteños, Sureños, and the White Supremacists. Utah also has one of the highest meth overdose rates in the West, with about 15 meth overdose deaths per 100,000 residents. It is becoming more dangerous to continue using drugs in the state, due to the increasing presence of fentanyl, even in non-opioid drugs, and the growing levels of violence due to the high levels of drug trafficking in the area. Luckily, if someone wants to stop using drugs or alcohol and get clean, there are many dozens of drug and alcohol detox centers across the state that can help someone safely begin the journey of recovery.

As well, this group helps those in need find the resources that will allow them to achieve lasting sobriety.
The Department of Drug and Alcohol Prevention is the government-sanctioned, state-run organization that helps Utah addicts to get the treatment they need to get sober. Additionally, this group advocates for addiction education as an essential prevention strategy.
Parents Empowered is a Utah-based organization that consists of parents of individuals suffering from addiction. This group has a strong media and education campaign that’s meant to serve as a preventative strategy for addiction.
