The state is used as a drug trafficking corridor by several Mexican cartels, and local drug distribution is handled by the mainline Crips and Rollin 60s Crips gangs, among several others. The exact scope of the problem is hard to determine since Montana does not regularly report overdose deaths to national collating agencies such as the DEA or NIH, but nearby Idaho has seen increases in many types of drug overdoses in the last decade, particularly opioid overdoses. While the scope of the problem may be somewhat unclear, if someone is looking for help with drug or alcohol addiction, there is a clear source of help available. There’s a major problem with underage alcohol consumption in Montana as well as throughout the entire United States. According to studies, roughly 14 percent of high school females in Montana are 13 years old or younger during their first episode of alcohol abuse.
