Drug & Alcohol Detoxification Facilities in New York

New York has been a major drug hotspot for decades, and this trend has only intensified during the opioid crisis. In recent years, there have been significant increases in the amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana present in the state. This is mainly due to the fact that New York is a major drug trafficking hub for multiple different criminal organizations, including the Sinaloa cartel, Jalisco New Generation cartel, and a variety of Colombian and Dominican cartels. As far as local drug distribution goes, the Bandidos and Syndicato Nuevo Mexico gangs among several others handle drug dealing on a smaller-scale for these cartels. To illustrate the prevalence of drug trafficking through New York, in 2017, the DEA seized 66 kilograms (145.5 pounds) of fentanyl from an apartment in Queens, which is the largest fentanyl seizure in US history. New York also has a distinction as being present in three separate top 10 lists for the highest number of positive DEA forensic sample tests for heroin, fentanyl, and oxycodone. While drug use is widespread in New York, there is still help available. If someone is struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, there are drug and alcohol detox centers all over the state that can help someone make it through the sometimes dangerous detox process in the safest, most comfortable way possible.
